WIC Clerk

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
I. Maintain general appearance of the waiting room (Columbus and satellite clinic sites) and work station ensuring that it is clean throughout the day.
2. Effectively answers the telephone, routes phone calls correctly, and returns phone calls in a timely manner.
3. Provide excellent customer service in a courteous, polite, and helpful manner.
4. Accurately completes certification process according to WIC procedures.
5. Effectively uses the computer scheduler for making WIC appointments .
6. Accurately issues monthly WIC benefits .
7. Effectively educates participants on proper use of WIC food List and eWIC card.
8. Completes reminder calls and texts daily for previously made appointments as well as for missed appointments, and records reminders on WIC share drive.
9. Demonstrates knowledge and application of HIPAA standards in practice and document management.
10. Interprets information for the Certified Professional Authority (nurse and/or dietitian).
11. Performs other tasks within WIC Clinic as needed and as time permits.
12. Attends staff meetings.                                                                                                                                                                             

EDUCATION:                                                                                                                 
High school diploma is required. 

EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience working with the public is helpful. Staff hired for the position will need to attend training in Lincoln for more than one day.
 

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred. Knowledge of breastfeeding is desirable. Work experience with WIC is preferred.
